Immediately: instantly, at once, without delay, then and there….
Matthew 4:18-22 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
As I was reading this section, the word immediately jumped out and my spirit was quickened – I reread it several times. As I continued reading through Matthew, each time Jesus called His disciples, they immediately left what they were doing and followed Jesus.
I’ve been pondering on this and asking the Lord what He really wanted His children to glean. You see many are called but few immediately accept. A lot of people start looking at the pros and cons of the call of God on their lives and it leads them to either not saying yes, not fully committing, picking and chosing parts of the call or completely rejecting it because of the cost. You see delayed obedience is still disobedience.
I’ve me and heard testimonies of people walking away from everything they knew and going overseas as missionaries because God called them to it. Some are in fulltime ministries and while there are challanges, the fulfillment is so much better, its easy to it their excitement in a fully surrendered life.
Obedience is better than sacrifice. Jesus is the perfect example of this. He lived by example and we are to do the same. We should be about our Fathers business.
Beloved, give Him your ‘yes’ and trust that He will prepare you. We don’t need to be perfect for Papa to call us. Moses was a murderer and fugitive but look at what God did through him? What about Saul/Paul? In his old life he persecuted christians; yet God used him in a mighty way. My friend, you are not insignificant. your past doesn’t disqualify you in Gods eyes, it maybe the very thing He uses to launch you. Let Him decide what is and what isn’t – you just give Him your yes and immediately follow Him. In the words of Reinhard Bonnke – “all hands on deck”. Every chosen vessel is needed to build the kingdom.
