Genesis 6:14-16 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high. Make a roof for it, leaving below the roof an opening one cubit high all around. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks.
Has God asked you to do something that seems impossible? Has He given you dreams that are so out of this world and you have no idea what to do with them? If you are still puzzling over your dream or call to the impossible, just know you are not alone. Noah had the same call. Can you imagine what was going through his mind as God was giving him the measurements and instructions on how to build an ark big enough to house his family and all the animals that needed to get in it and stay in for forty days and nights? I love that Noah was obedient. Hebrew 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
In 2013, a prophet prophesied over me and said I will prophecy to many people and I thought it was a joke. Me? No way. I’m not good with people; I’m somewhat shy and introverted yet that is exactly how the Lord has used me. I looked my shortcomings and all my weaknesses and disqualified myself yet God has used what I thought disqualified me to glorify Himself. When He asked me to start writing sermons I wondered who would preach them (haha) and He has been opening doors for me to preach. When He told me I will pray for people and they will be delivered and healed I looked at my shyness yet He opens my mouth and puts words of power and I’ve been privileged to see people delivered from oppression, depression, demonic possession, bondage, addiction and receive emotional and psychological healing. When He asked me to start writing years ago, I stopped after a few months because I didn’t think I had what it took yet here I am again, depending on Him and not myself as I can do nothing on my own. Matthew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Noah could have been overwhelmed by the task at hand and thrown in the towel. He could have decided he wasn’t the man for the job, I mean he wasn’t an architect and God had only asked him; one man to build this ark. He could have listened to those who mocked him and walked away from the call.
Gods call does not eliminate mountains or obstacles if anything it highlights all our inadequacies and I love that when we feel small and unqualified He magnifies Himself if we submit and seek His will in doing things. Mountains are just that and they tower over us when we focus on them. When I used to look at how impossible what God has called me to is, I disqualify myself and this is something God pointed out to me before so I’ve made it a habit to look to Him each time He asks something of me and I get overwhelmed. When God gives you a task, trust that He has a plan for you to fulfill it. Yes, Noah had to go gather the materials needed and we have to apply ourselves to what we have been tasked with but God has not asked us to figure it out on our own. He wants us to look to Him; we have the Holy Spirit whom Jesus called our helper. John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. God has a reason for choosing the least qualified and the humble to do great and mighty things. Michael Koulianos once said God doesn’t need us to be qualified to use us. I was so blessed by that and I know many people need to hear that. It is God who qualifies us. Moses, Joseph, Isaiah, Joshua, Paul, Peter are among a few of many qualified by God and used in a mighty way in the scriptures.
If you’re counting yourself out because you think you are not qualified or have listened to naysayers who have told you are not qualified, that maybe you heard God wrong, be encouraged. God does not make mistakes. He qualifies you and He doesn’t call you to figure it out on your own, He has the plan on how you will fulfill the task at hand. Trust Him to show you His might in as the plan or call unfolds but be obedient and commit to walking it out. Be blessed.
