You see each calling comes with responsibility and for it to be fulfilled we need to submit and yield ourselves to the Holy Spirit so God can be glorified in us and honored in the works of our hands.
Living or walking out you calling requires Faith, obedience, trust and sacrifice among other things. You’ve got trust God and keep moving. He will direct your steps. The known is easier to act upon but when it comes to the unknown, well, that’s another story. People hesitate because it’s easier to know where you are going. Don’t forget God has the plan down pat before He even calls you. Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Wow! God had it all planned out! So why is it hard sometimes to walk out my/your call? Fear. Fear cripples faith that leads us to disobedience, complacency or totally rejecting Gods plan for our lives.
Sacrifice: we ought to deny ourselves and pick up our cross. Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. We sometimes have to give up certain things. And for that to happen we need obedience! The bible says obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22) but you don’t want to begrudge God in the process. It may be a struggle and I admit I’ve tried to talk God out of asking me to give up certain things but in the end I did it because it pleases me to please Him and my obedience pleases Him. Holding on to things can hinder blessings and create clutter in our lives.
Who you’re around also is important. You’ve got to find people who share or encourage your vision, people who will pray with and for you and who will fast with you as well. They will build you up and correct you in love.
Prayer. This one is super important! Stay prayed up! Intimacy with God to me is center and central to serving God in ministry. I need more of Him each day to walk my calling out. He teaches me through His word and the special moments I speak with Him and I grow in ways I never knew I could. In turn I’m effective. I ask Him for mercy and love for those whose lives I’m privileged to touch. 2 Peter 1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall. I’ve learnt to trust Him with the unknown and all of us waking it out can experience amazing things when God does things in and through us. Hallelujah!
